The Young@Heart Chorus returns to Springfield for a special performance at the HOPE Center for the Arts. Conceived as a tribute honoring the life and legacy of Evelyn Harris, the program will feature special guest appearances by Sweet Honey in the Rock and Yasmeen Betty Williams, setting the tone for an afternoon of remembrance, reflection, and shared voice.
The HOPE in Hope and Glory reflects the future taking shape inside the HOPE Center itself. Students and faculty of the HOPE Center will perform alongside Young@Heart, embodying the Center’s mission to foster creativity, mentorship, and shared purpose through the arts. Their collaboration affirms the belief that music gains depth when it is passed between generations.
The Glory honors the extraordinary life of Evelyn Harris, whose artistry and activism left an indelible mark on Springfield, the nation, and the world. Through song and collective remembrance, Hope and Glory stands as both a memorial and a celebration—of a remarkable artist, and of the enduring power of community when generations come together in harmony.
This program is funded in part by grants from the Irene E. & George A. Davis Foundation and the Springfield Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by Mass Cultural Council, a state agency.
