Our Mission

We connect youth with the tools, training, and mentorship to create, perform, and lead.
We build creative careers, cultural power, and economic opportunity across Western Massachusetts from an epicenter in downtown Springfield.

A professional Arts Hub

HOPE Center for the Arts is a new creative campus in downtown Springfield, built for young people who deserve access to opportunity, mentorship, and the power of self-expression.
We’ve transformed the former CityStage theater into New England’s most advanced multidisciplinary arts facility—with professional spaces for theater, music, dance, visual, and media arts.

We partner with public schools, counselors, and regional arts organizations to provide youth with access to real training, state-of-the-art equipment, and teaching artists who believe in their brilliance.
Every young person deserves the tools to build a vision for their future, develop their voice, and gain skills that open real economic opportunity.

Why It Matters

Springfield youth deserve access to the same tools and opportunities as their peers across the state. But decades of disinvestment in arts education have created deep gaps.

Research shows:

  • Low-income students with access to arts education are 5× less likely to drop out of school (EducationNext).
  • Arts participation is linked to higher grades, better attendance, and fewer discipline issues (Brookings Institution).
  • Black and Hispanic students have experienced a 40–49% decline in arts access over the last two decades, while access for white students has stayed stable (American Academy of Arts & Sciences).

HOPE Center closes that gap with direct investment in youth voice, training, and leadership.

This is about

Springfield

as a Cultural Leader

Through public programming, professional productions, and creative partnerships, Springfield is stepping forward as a regional leader in arts and culture, with young people at the center.
